High blood pressure can be dangerous for the athlete. It damages the heart, blood vessels, and the kidneys in the body. High blood pressure can lead to heart and kidney failure which could kill the athlete. The body works harder then usual with high blood pressure in result of that the bodies arteries can be affected in the long run. Most of the banned supplements that these athletes take can give the people infertility and also sexual dysfunction. In male these banned supplements are bad for the body’s reproductive organs. It can give the male user low sperm count and erectile dysfunction. Performance enhancement drugs can do the same thing to female athletes. In a woman’s reproductive organ the supplements can harm the athlete’s menstrual cycle and decrease the ability of getting pregnant. Drug polices should be enforced in every level of sport events in the world. Loosing good hard working athletes to the addictive drugs would be a terrible loss to sports in general. This drug era is not just destroying athletes but the whole idea of sports and fair competition. One day the sports might be filled with people that are cheating in sports and that will not make sports any fun for good competitors. Athletes are getting away with using these performance enhancement drugs in sports, because there is not enough drug testing policies in these athletic events. The International Amateur Athletic Federation estimates that only 10 to 15% of participating athletes are tested in each major competition (Drugs in Sport). Sports was once comparing ones true skill against the whole world, but now it’s all about who has the upper hand in a event and its destroying the game. These drug abusers in sports need to be delt with, and the drugs need to stay out the commissioners of all major athletic competition should to enforce a drug test policy and stop this drug era for today’s and future
