With the new season set to start on November 1, 2005, Stern vowed to make a change for the better. He announced that a dress code would be required of the players for the 05-06 season. The dress code requires players to wear “business casual” attire whenever they are engaged in team or league business. It specifically bans shorts, T-shirts, jerseys, sneakers, flip-flops, headgear such as do –rags, and chains, pendants and medallions worn outside clothing. They also are not allowed to leave games wearing headphones, sunglasses while indoors, or baseball caps to post-game news conferences.
