Strategy being the plan designed to obtain an organization’s goals and objectives should always be aligned with the vision, mission and values statements. All manner of things can go wrong when vision, mission and/or values contradicts strategy. Charmayne Smith discuss in an article, “The strategic plan involves defining and controlling the business’s future, as well as its current status.” She also adds that the, “The strategic plan analyzes the internal and external factors that affect the business and defines the procedures and steps the business will take to achieve the defined goals and objectives. One way to look at it, is that purpose of the organization existence is not working out well with the plan of action to get there. For example, the mission of American Heart Association is to “To build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. ” and let’s say one of their strategy in accomplishing that mission is to host meetings in communities of the less fortunate and providing them with meal for the duration of the seminar/meeting. The food was very unhealthy wherein cholesterol oil was used instead of non-cholesterol. Attendees were given greasy chicken instead of baked or stewed chicken. When the one party is in power, the opposition finds fault in their governing and develop strategies to avoid those issues if they should win. Last year February 25, 2016, the Jamaica Labor Party won the elections and ventured out with their strategies to obtain their mission and vision for a better Jamaica. I must admit that they seem to have been successful at a number of their plans, one being stabilizing exchange rate of the Jamaican dollar to the US currency. His mission along with the parties vision is to prove to Jamaica that they have our best interest at heart and will be very good in managing the economy. However, the Finance Minister’s mission to grow the economy developed a huge bump when it was recently discovered that he alone had a over $8 million Jamaican dollars in phone bill which is equivalent to over $62,500 US for last fiscal year. His strategy to monitor the countries economy failed when he had no effective management on his phone bills. He has made history with this huge bill and not to mention some of his colleagues had huge bills as well. The Party Ministers has racked up over $15 million Jamaican dollars in phone bills for the last fiscal year. Strategy is definitely not aligned with the Party’s mission, vision and values
