Cultural transmission, is the fourth phase of the human language this is a form of acquisition it explains the process of how we acquire the language we speak by a cultural process with other people, and not by genes that were passed on to us from our parents. In animal communication, this process is very different because animals are already born with a set of different signals that will be produced immediately. It basically shows that if animals are not exposed to the sounds they will make this sounds will still develop however it will be a little different from the rest so they might consider the sound abnormal or different. Duality, is the final step of the human language process this consists of the ability of organizing language in two layers. This gives us the opportunity to create a different meaning of the sounds we make. For example, we might make a sound for the first layer process and then on the second one we make a different distinction between the first sound that was produced. Duality is one of the most important factors of the development of human language because this allows us humans to produce a lot of different sounds that we can later use to describe certain things in life. However, this is not the case for animal communication because they are only able to produce …show more content…
Many of us probably ask well if the human language is so unique wouldn 't this be impossible? Yes, but this does not not mean that people will ever give up on the hope of proving otherwise. There has been a few experiments that have taken place that in a way prove that communication is possible but only in a certain small amount of words. A very famous case that is mentioned on the article "Human vs. Animal Language” that I found on a Boundless Open Textbook. Explains the story of Koko a gorilla that was able to learn over a thousand signs of “Gorilla sign language” Koko is able to respond to about two thousands words of the english human language. However this does not mean that Koko is able to use all the factors that the human language requires such as syntax and grammar. And her understanding of the words she knows is not greater than the of a young human child. There has been other experiments that have take place also with chimpanzees and other gorillas, however scientist performing this experiments do not get much out of the subject because the animals are only capable of understanding so much and even if they learn a few words this does not mean that they really know what each of the signs or words they are signing mean at
