Different Types Of Abortion

There are many different ways to define abortion. One type is medical abortion, which consists of taking a medicine during the first trimester to end a pregnancy. Also, there is surgical abortion which consists of procedures including vacuum aspiration and D&E. The third type is called “spontaneous abortion”, often known as miscarriage (Lowen). There’s no doubt that there are many ways for a woman to terminate a pregnancy, but the question in everyone’s minds is, “Should this even be legal?” The abortion debate has been going on for quite some time now. Many people see ending a pregnancy as a selfish act. There are also some who identify themselves as being “pro-life”, which means they believe that personhood begins at conception. They see abortion as terminating a human life, no matter how early the operation takes place. I believe these people do not look at certain circumstances under which a woman could be when she chooses to make this life changing decision. Then there are those who believe that it should be solely up to the mother and everyone else should ‘mind their business’. In the worst cases, some women decided on abortion because they were raped. Also, a woman may be just making the decision to terminate her pregnancy until a later time when she’s maybe more prepared to have a child, but there are also cons to this idea.
