My friend, Kamrie, has been there and supported me through every obstacle she has been around for. We have known each other for little over a year but it feels like it has been a lifetime. There is a quote that states “It’s not about who you’ve known the longest, it’s about who came and never left.” She has supported me and my decisions while no one else did. For example, I was having a rough time with my mother that ended with me making the poor choice of running away from home, at that moment I felt as if I had no one. Kamrie, of course, listened to why I chose to run and was there to comfort me but was also there to inform me of the poor choice I just made, she said to me “ Why would you run away? When you come back the problems will still be there, so what’s the point? You’re not solving any problems, you’re only creating more.” At the time, I thought, she doesn’t understand because she’s wasn’t in the situation but then I had to take a step out of my emotions to realize she wasn’t saying that to be discourteous or to make the situation worse, she was doing what a true friend should do. They’re that person that is positive no matter what scenario you may be in. They push you to do better; Kamrie has also always been there to push me when she knew I could do better. During softball, she was my confidence booster, when I made errors it affected my attitude and how I played, she was there to boost me back up and make me realize playing with an attitude wasn’t going to benefit me any. She had my back on and off the field. During high school I didn’t always put my priorities first, I was repeatedly hearing “Do your homework.” It wasn’t necessarily that I didn’t want to do it but depending on the subject I never put in as much effort as I should have, the reason for that was because I struggled with it, and felt if I couldn’t do it, I just shouldn’t.
