Studying abroad is one of the biggest advantages a college student can experience during his/her college career. While studying abroad, a person can learn valuable lessons and take those experiences home to create and contribute to the society of their homeland. Students all over the United States has taken advantages of this experience and study abroad for a once in a lifetime opportunity. A student might be better off staying elsewhere because the long term effects of a student coming back with more knowledge is beneficial as they use what they have learn, apply and redefined through their works. In a recent study from an article, “Opinion: Studying Abroad is more complex than often portrayed”. It talks about the bad sides of studying abroad, it also states the benefit of it. The article discusses that,” the semester abroad is notorious for setting students off track academically” (Opinion). This statement explains that a student who studied abroad often times do better in school than those who did not. It is one of the reason why most student who came back are academically better. Academically, it will give an individual a new way of learning that might help them succeed later on in school and life. Despite the enormous amount of advantages supporting studying abroad programs, often times, there is a few setbacks and counter examples to the negative sides of studying abroad.
