An example of this is when Edward is fighting Jim in the bat ridden castle. This scene shows Edward’s hesitance to kill him despite his treatment toward the misfit. This incident clearly illustrates the fact that Edward was overly altruistic even in parlous situations despite his inability to relate to much of anything in a regular society. This type of lighting is also used in The Nightmare before Christmas as Jack sings “This is Halloween.” As the stringy skeleton travels up a dark, and curvy hill, all by his lonesome yet again. All of this shows Jack’s capacity for change and his kindness to regard his fellow fiends with courtesy despite his knowledge of a beautiful place where everyone is kind by his ability to accept them for who they are.
Burton may have a rare style, but his characters experience a common feeling of friendlessness that the majority of his viewers have been accustomed to. The relatable wretches make Burton’s work universal and exploit the true genius of his madness. Edward from Edward Scissorhands, Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Jack from The Nightmare before Christmas all truly demonstrate the worldwide truth that the loneliest people are often the most kindhearted through their hard experiences and fight to stay continually
