Ancient Rome and the Han dynasty were both great empires that covered large parts of territory at different time periods. They were two different empires that were in opposite sides of the world but had many similarities. Both of these empires were built on previous generations of their ancestors ideas and creations that came before them. There were also many differences in these two empires like their government, military, slave view, language, and architecture. Some may argue that these two empires aren’t alike at all but there is a lot of proof showing that they were alike. Though over all, Ancient Rome and the Han Dynasty made great impacts on the generations that came after them in that territory from their architecture and beliefs. …show more content…
They also had the idea of supporting your parents when they get older and are considered an elder in the society. A key difference is that the families in the Han performed ritual sacrifices of animals and food, which they believed could be used by those in the spiritual realm. Another main difference that makes the Han different from Rome is their social hierarchy. They had emperors, kings, nobles, peasants, merchants, etc in their empire. The language was very different to, the group was called Hanyu but the written characters were called Hanzi. The religions of both were the same at first but they changed over some time. This is were the three main religions of the Han Dynasty by then came to be: Neo-Daoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism. Neo-Daoism also known as "mysterious learning" is what scholars of the Han Dynasty dropped their Confucianism for. There was one concern of this religion which was immortality. Some sought it with dietary restrictions and yoga-like meditation which is like Buddhism. Confucianism was based on the teachings of Confucius. The Han society had actually mixed Confucianism with Legalism. Confucianism was to show respect especially to the elders and the parents. Though there was a …show more content…

Both of the empires had lasted approximately 400 years with populations of about 50 million people. At their peaks they had about 5 million square kilometers of territory and ruled about a quarter of Earth’s population. Along with how advanced they bother were with their expanded function of government, used bureaucracy, and taxation.
