There are a profuse amount of Global Issues that I wanted to cover throughout this paper however; I’ve narrowed it down to one of the most critical issues in the world. People in our society tend to only care about what affects them directly and often ignore those critical issues which influence us all, indirectly. The topic I will be discussing is death, which is a serious matter alone, but death of over twenty-four thousand children (under 5 yrs of age) every day is much more severe (UNICEF, 2008). Vast amounts of death to any species can kill them off entirely over a long period of time. Regardless if evolution is true or not extinction does exist and still exist today. Thinking outside of the box for a moment one can infer that it is indeed possible for humankind to die out from one cause or another. Although 24,000 deaths of children don’t match the 350,000 plus being born each day if you incorporate the deaths of the world as a whole from war, crime, teen violence and etc it is safe to say that people are dying in massive amounts. The economy is declining globally and the current financial state of the world will only increase the number of deaths worldwide.
The CIA also states that the importance of child mortality rates is to show the health state of a country. Health care is already limited for the underprivileged, but for countries where sanitation, massive poverty, and services that are essential to survival and development of a person’s life are lacked; it is much worse. Twenty-two million infants are not protected from diseases by routine immunization and this is inhumanly (UNICEF, 2008). African Americans in particular should be concerned with what is going on in Africa because we are descendants of them. Africa is where many babies are unhealthy and born with HIV because it was passed on to them by their mothers. If the situations in Africa concerning children are not adequately addressed the nation will have a fatal outcome.
