Great Essays
Critical care physicians are doctors who have completed primary residency training in a specific area of study. Areas such as pediatrics, anesthesiologists, and emergency medicine. Then have to complete training in an intensive care unit. Critical care physicians need to be hard workers, have lots of stamina and be able to stay calm, and quickly look for the most efficient solution. Starting off, school is a little more open ended for any kind of physician. First you must achieve a BS degree, however you can choose what the degree is in. Also blood pathogen exposure simply because of the nature of trying to help a patient immediately and exposing the blood into the oxygen. They work with many people they work with in one day, which is very interesting because they work with sometimes 12+ other doctors that are specialized in certain areas. That’s really cool because they are getting so much insight and involvement from others and like form a support system. Also it’s interesting how they can just work three days and then have four days of rest, because it’s so vigorous and hard on the body that they need a couple days to recuperate, but going back after a couple days could be harder. I am definitely still interested in pursuing this career, I definitely want to work in an intensive care unit because it’s so high paced, and many people feel the opposite but I have always has a lot going on in my life and have a lot to do, a lot of things one after the other with high stress levels and I enjoy that, it keeps me on my toes. I also really want to do this because while I had thought of surgery before I’m thinking maybe that isn’t where I want my main area of focus, however instead working directly with the patient to figure out what is wrong, however surgery is still a possibility I’m open to. I also really want to work in a pediatric department because while that is extremely heavy and hard to do, I feel that working with adults and older people I just couldn’t handle it emotionally from all the adults I have had memories in the hospital with. I would love to help a child so that they can have a long and happy life for the future. Children are really comfortable around me and naturally really like me (but not babies) I would love to get to talk to the child and get to know them, and help them
