History and Background
As most will us will know, no organization can exist without leadership. There are many studies conducted by different researchers on leaderships and most of them will have a different view on leadership. It is a complex task to determine a good leadership with certain traits. Early studies on leadership are based on traits theory but later being better define by more scientific research on contingency theories. However, it is clear that leadership is about leading a group of followers to achieve the organization goal and it will always influence its members in the process.

Contingency theory basically means that no leadership style is the best fit in different situations. Cognitive Resource Theory (CRT) modifies Fiedler's basic contingency model by adding traits of the leader (Fiedler and Garcia 1988). It identifies the conditions which leaders and followers use their skills and knowledge effectively. It will always depend on different variables, including the qualities of the leader, situations and the types of followers. There are 3 features that best describe his theory. Leader-member relationship, it involves the feelings of the group for its leaders, such as loyalty, trust and confidence. The task structure and the clarity of the task assigned and ways to complete it. Does It look into how much power does the leader have to control its members? However, there is some major weakness to the Fiedler’s Contingency theory. The theory failed to explain why leaders with certain leadership styles are effective in some situations but not for some others. The LPC scale is subjective and may not offer the best measurement and assessment of the situation. If someone is being appointed as the leader but with a low position power, the solution will be replacing the leader then to adopt a different leadership style. Thaksin Shinawatra; he was once a police who became a businessman and also one of the wealthiest people in Thailand. He made billion in the telecommunication industry before becoming the prime minister in 2001. He is truly a risk taker who takes the risk of almost every opportunity encountered. He left his iron rice bowl job in the police force as a lieutenant colonel and started the Shinawatra Company in 1987 to sell software, data communication, pager and mobile facility. At that time, all these businesses are relatively unheard of in Thailand and most parts of the world. He is a true leader; he is never a follower of any political party as he himself set up a new political party and wins majority seats in the parliament in 2001. Dr. Thaksin behaviour and mannerism show all the positives traits of a leader. He is very visionary, articulate, positive, confidence and intelligent. Dr Thaksin also displays an autocratic leadership style. He is always in control of his political party and uses force to influence. For example, he introduces health care programme to the poor with resistance from the government. And it resulted in heavy financial burden to the government.
