During the day she just see an ordinary yellow wallpaper that is slightly smelly, discolored and torn on the sides but at night as the narrator says “At night in any kind of light, in twilight, candlelight, lamplight, and worst of all by moonlight, it becomes bars! The outside pattern I mean, and the woman behind it is as plain as can be.” This yellow wallpaper is so important in this story as it explains who she is and why it’s so significant with her. The yellow wallpaper by day shows her a more controlled and scared side that I want to believe because she said it’s ugly and that yellow represents light and her being free in the light will have her freedom gone because she can be seen easily compared to her not getting caught in the night where her freedom lies. At night when she sees the women behind some bars shows the other side of her and why she hasn’t saved the women from the wallpaper knowing that that is how she is going to end up in the future, as a prisoner. Which makes the narrator get scared for the women in the wallpaper to eventually go and help her out knowing the reinsure of it helping herself out as well. I feel like night is the true her the one that wants to break out because at night John is sleeping and not looking over her so she is basically free to do what she wants it symbolizes dreams because at night is when she is free to roam …show more content…
Not only was it a symbolized story with fantasy arcs but because it shows gender dominance which was a pressured issue in the late 1800’s and still like that to this day. There are a lot of women out there who are mentally abused by their husband/boyfriend and they don’t have the confidence to get out. You see a lot of movies like that when the girl gets the douche boyfriend and she looks depressed at home and doesn’t have any friends because of the husband/boyfriend won’t let her go out and socialize. This is why a lot of them have mental issues and a lack of self-confidence. Charlotte was giving the women community a voice with this story that she knew she was too weak to leave but knowing someone who reads it actually might have the courage to do something for all women in the future. I really respected Charlotte as a writer and a woman, she was mentally strong and weak at the same time but it created another Charlotte that only she can change herself and that is why she is a good role model for all girls and

This description is important because it shows how the narrator is in an unstable mental state. She starts off my talking about a smell that the wallpaper has. Then, she says how it creeps all over the house, as if it is alive and a person. The word “creeps” is significant because the narrator later uses this word to describe how the lady in the wallpaper moves about and how the narrator herself moves to see the lady in the wallpaper.
