The Tell Tale Heart, which is a story written by Poe, is about a man who claims he is sane despite the fact that he suffers from a disease that causes "over –acuteness of the senses". This unnamed narrator lives with an old man who has an "evil eye". This eye upsets the narrator and causes him to plot to kill the old man. This eye bothers the narrator so much that he actually kills the old man by smothering his face. He then mutilates the body and hides his body under the floor board. The police then come to the narrators house because a neighbor reported screaming. The narrator reluctantly lets the police in and tries to convince them that the screams were from a terrible nightmare he had and the old man had left the country.
