Art is both Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet’s passion. Vincent van Gogh lived a rough life struggling with finances and mental disabilities. Although Vincent van Gogh had these disabilities he was very dedicated to creating art. Vincent van Gogh struggled with selling his art while living, but, he keeps on painting because art was his passion. Claude Monet’s life was very different from Vincent van Goghs. Although they both painted outdoors Claude Monet preferred human paintings. He painted his first wife Camille Doncieux very frequently, you can see her in his painting The Woman in Green. Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet’s lifestyle were very different. Claude Monet made money off his paintings while he was living. From this he only had financial struggles once in his life. Vincent van Gogh did not make any money off his paintings while he was living. He struggled with finances throughout his whole life. Due to his not selling any paintings he thought his life was a failure and a waste. That is the main reason why he tried to commit suicide. Claude Monet loved his life, he thought it was well used and had a great attitude towards it. Vincent van Gogh was a self taught artist. He taught himself by studying others artwork, including Claude Monet’s. Claude Monet learned how to paint and draw from other artists. He took lessons from Eugéne Boudin while he was young. Although they were born in the same place, Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet were born in different places. Claude Monet was born in Paris, France and Vincent van Gogh was born in Groot-Zundert, Holland. Vincent van Gogh did not start painting until he was older, while he was a child he was serious and silent. Claude Monet started painting young and went to an art school, even though his father disapproved. Vincent van Gogh did not always paint with paint brushes, he mostly smeared the paint on the canvas from the tube. Claude Monet used a paint brush at all times.
