Assignment 2- Compare and Contrast Essay (Texting vs. Calling) Over 92 percent of people who using smartphone in the United Stated send 111 messages per week and another 49 percent of those who are using online social media every single day would prefer message than call a person. Nowadays, mobile phones have become a necessity of our lives and majority of the people couldn’t live without their mobile phones. Although mobile phones has many function but most of the people are utilized for the most part for messaging and calling purposes. Some of the people will talk on the phone a few minutes or either more than one hour and sometimes even forget the time when they are over enjoying their conversation. Using mobile phones to call would costly than texting. Particularly, texting someone would cost about RM0.08 while calling someone would likely cost about RM0.20. That is the reason that teenager prefer to text rather than calling because most of them still is a student and they cannot afford the phone bill. Texting is also very helpful for a person who just want to send a short text message to their friends and family to remind them something and it can be done by sending one message without being too costly, whereas if a call is made, the cost will be higher even in a short duration. Texting is very convenient for people who are busy such as work hours or in a class and just want to send a short message to their friends and family. We don't have to make a sound or talk while texting. Texting allow us to send pictures and emoticons, which improve the conversation more interesting. At the point when people needs to describe something, for example, an item, they don't need to clarify so much and could simply send a photo of it and also help the person who don’t know to express himself or herself. However, calling is not convenient when the people are busy because longer conversation will take place during a call. The living style of the society nowadays are more feverish where texting proves to be useful. A person who is in a meeting or a student who is in a class thinks that it difficult to call or answer a phone during that time, as it will interfere with others.
