Cinderella’s father took no action or initiative in changing how her step mother treated her because he also viewed Cinderella’s as just a servant. Though there was endless differences in the two stories, there was also some similarities. In both Disney and Grimm’s version of Cinderella, Cinderella had task that had to be completed before attending the ball. Another very obvious similarity is that both stories aim to teach the audience that being compassionate and kind is how a person should always act. (Grogaard, 4). By the 1900s it was obvious that most of the audience watching Cinderella was a younger audience. So the cruel and violent scenes that the Grimm’s brother included in the original version needed to be reconstructed. One very important part of the story that had to be changed was the part where the bird pecked out the sisters part (Thorpe, 9). Disney definitely didn’t want children thinking birds would one day cause them to go blind! The overall effect of the original version was to create scenes that all ages could relate to. The older crowd knew that birds would never peck out their sister’s eyeballs for being mean. But the children who didn’t know that did learn that there’s consequences for being rude to your siblings or people in general. Both stories were made to teach the lesson “to always be generous and stay true to yourself” (Grogaard, 1). Overall, the Grimm’s brother just portrayed the message in a more harsh way. The original version of Cinderella offers reality to all audiences. The Grimm’s version displays real life scenarios that people of all ages could relate
