Effective communication skills refer to the capability of an individual to use language to convey information relating to a particular subject. This is achieved through appropriate behavior both in body movements and use of communication aids. The main aim is that the information is received and understood. Professional communication is actualized very broadly as the connection that may take different structures and occur in a context that is mainly related to work. It comprises at least one contributor who is involved in some work-related process.
Communication plays a fundamental part in most workplaces, and in most duties that people engage in their everyday places of work. Various important aspects of life are also in one way or another

For this approach to be successful, it is essential that the fundamental aspects of communication be determined. These elements are identified as Message, Sender, Encoding, Receiver, Medium and Transmission, Barriers, Decoding, and Feedback.”7 The success in communication depends on these factors.
Professional communication also involves the use of tone and must most importantly eye contact. Learning to interact effectively is a vital component that any professional has to be equipped. There are various techniques or types of portraying information. They include oral, written and graphic communication. The criteria for selection of methods of information delivery depends on the suitability and purpose of communication.
Thralls et al1 analyzed the efficiency of channels of communication involved in any organization including the downward, upward, horizontal, lateral and diagonal communication. The cooperation between various personnel in any organization is achieved through the described channels. The channels may be formal or informal. Informal channels convey information but not directly from the authority. Comprehensive instructions presented over the telephone, for example, may be disappointing to the communicators. This is because it is much difficult to come to an understanding as a result of the interruption especially caused by ambiguous issues. The longer the communication sequence, the higher the possibility for mistakes. If a message progresses through too many recipients, the message usually becomes inaccurate
Decoding barriers in the communication process may be as a result of collapse or inefficiency of the medium intended to aid to convey instructions. The cycle may break down at the obtaining end for circumstances such as lack of concern for the recipient of the information
In conclusion, effective professional communication skills are required in day to day operations in the workplace. Through the body behavior and adoption of useful forms of communication, information can be relayed to the target audience. The information should be precise and clear to enhance understandability.
