It is important, next, to explain confidentiality to the client. By expressing that the interview is confidential the client is aware of their rights and should feel more inclined to share (Berman et al., 2016). The confidentiality statement needs to be sincere and comforting. I explain Samantha’s confidentiality rights at 0:15s in the video. This is an example of therapeutic use of self also. I am self aware that during and after this interview, it is my responsibility to keep this information private. Before moving into the working phase of the interview I must establish trust between the client and myself. “Trust is described as as the reliance on someone without doubt or question or the belief that the other person is capable of assisting in times of distress and in all likelihood will do so.” (Berman et al., 2016). I start indicating we are going to finish by asking her if she has any questions and then I summarize the entire interview. I use my last therapeutic technique by summarizing the interview and planning some goals for Samantha. This occurs at 10:03s and I stated, “It sounds like in the last couple minutes we talked about…”. I pointed out the biggest factor that leads to her stress and problems, which is time management, and I allow her to think of some of her own goals to try and accomplish. She starts stating her goals by saying, “I think I’m going to start planning
