This individual written assignment captures the development of the design project through team contribution, interaction and project development. Each member of the team contributed to the project by working together in a synergistic manner. Once the organization was selected, the team needed to identify a topic in which to build upon, therefore developing the project in stages in order to capture all elements of the topic. The team began to strategize on how to manage the workload in order to insure completion of the project within the established time frame. Through constructive and effective communication we were able to devise a method of action based on a sensible, yet practical application. As a team, we decided that the best approach …show more content…
We needed a topic that was current, controversial and in the news, yet provided enough credible resources in which to gather and analyze data. The team decided to focus on a current and very controversial topic on women in combat. The team felt that this topic addressed several challenges facing the military regarding gender equality, therefore providing a platform in which to build upon. We soon realized that we needed to take our idea one step further by analyzing the physiological limitations imposed on women in combat. The physical limitations would definitely be a concern based on the stringent and physically demanding requirements of combat readiness. Through clarity, we establish our vision and influence others to share in the same passion, (Bennis, 2009). Once we made the decision to push forward with the project we needed to establish guidelines and responsibilities. By defining areas of strength within the team we were able to devise a sound approach in completing the project. It is easy to lose focus when we are faced with road blocks, but clarity will enable us to refocus, as we become focused so will others and together that vision can come to fruition, (Kouzes and Posner, …show more content…
The team developed folders in one drive to capture the necessary data in which to incorporate in the development process. As the project progressed, the team overcame minor difficulties with limited access to WebEx by taking advantage of the time provided after the weekly team chat. Maintaining contact through email was initially challenging, but the use of one drive and WebEx made up for discrepancies. Our team has always provided support and recognition for work completed, which reinforces motivation and commitment within the team. When people are recognized for doing a great job they take pride in their work and in many cases, they will work harder to show their appreciation, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). The team has definitely built a solid relationship and really pulled together to make this project a reality. Each team member accepted their responsibilities with much vigor, and whole heartily went to work through creative contributions. If one member of the team fails, we all fail, it is important to make sure the team comes first, (Hesselbein and Shinseki,

The author of the essay, “Military Women in Combat, Why Making It Official Matters”, Jena McGregor starts right off by telling you the topic she will cover. She starts the essay with the sentence, “It’s been a big couple of weeks for women in the military” to draw in her audience by leaving them intrigued from something that hasn’t changed in years. After using that sentence to catch the audience’s attention, she then states, “Last week, female soldiers began formally moving into jobs in previously all-male battalions, a program that will later go Army-wide” as a strong thesis. McGregor goes on to talk about how many jobs have opened to women in the military by the rules getting changed. Although she adds this huge fact she also added how…

The women who argue to be able to serve in combat are not acknowledging the danger it puts themselves and the United States Military in. In the article,“Why Women Do Not Belong in the U.S Infantry.”, Serrano expresses that if they allowed women to serve in combat during her service in the military, anyone including herself would have jumped at the opportunity because of the novelty, excitement, and challenge; but, her views have changed with the experience and knowledge she has gained. Everyone needs to accept the fact that women are different, not only physically, but all around. It will only destroy the mission of the services (Para. 1). Also, allowing women to serve in infantry will cause enormous amounts of distractions.…

I assigned sections of the invention to each person so each had ownership in success the design. As a team, we all need to agree or disagree with the group’s decision and live with the design and the direction that we take. Both the Army and the Marines do not let women serve in multiple different front line jobs. The study compared men to women in a ground combat unit against each other. There was months of training involved and eventually a head to head with multiple realistic tests of the Marines.…

Equal opportunity may not result in equal outcome In light of Secretary of Defense Aston Carter’s recent announcement that all combat military occupational specialties will open to women, I feel compelled to speak on this controversial subject. In this paper I will talk about both sides of the argument including factors of the effects of gender integration in combat units and provide reasons that justify predictions that people have made. This certain topic affects me because I have a brother that has given four years of service and has five more years of service to give after becoming an officer for the Marines. My brother Thomas served as infantry member and if they rule that women may serve it will affect him in his military career in the…

Should Women be allowed in Combat? Woman should be allowed in combat for many reasons. First of all allowing woman into combat situations would make our military more effective by putting talent into sections that were frowned upon before, it would help our forces become more modernized, putting women into combat situations would not break tradition because women have served in every war since the revolutionary war, and would put ability above gender. Allowing woman into combat situations would allow our combat units to be more effective in many different ways. Women who choose to become active combat soldiers, are unlikely to shirk their duty by becoming pregnant after a call-up as these women have willingly joined the service…
