Discipline Investigation: Network System Analyst

Introduction

Information system is the most popular technology in the past two decades, but I have decided to get into the field is not because of the popularity. I have chosen network analyst as my future path because my mom used to restrict my internet usage. The reason sounds unique but that is why I initiate my interest on this “forbidden thing”. However, I never learn anything about it until I took a class in my high school, call Network Administration. The teacher has explored a new world in the class, and I have realized that my interest can be my future career choice. Dave told me “communication is big part of the job, because a good communication skill can save you get in trouble.” He added an example “some users are frustrating when they are looking for help. Therefore, network analyst should talk to them and help them express out the stress.” In addition, communication skill is also important for Dave to respond email. Dave is getting about hundred email a day, and he must reply most of them during work. The emails are mostly I.T ticket from users (the ticket is a detail description of the user problem) or new job request from Dave’s boss. Dave is getting lot more emails than other network analyst during work because he is the one who needs to read the email before work distribution. In addition, email response is not the only thing, Dave will need to write announcement for all users if his team need to do updates or maintenance to the …show more content…
Even though network analyst is an I.T field position, every network analyst needs good communication skill to communicate with users and supervisors. Writing skill is not a useless skill in this career path because it helps network analysts respond emails and write reports. In addition, I have noticed that network analyst is a high demand position in the bay area because Silicon Valley is located here, and the I.T companies need network analyst to help manage the companies. According to Dave, network analyst is a good position with a decent pay, especially senior network analyst. A senior network analyst is important for a big organization because an experience network analyst can organize the company. The average pay for a network analyst is around $59k per year. The salary scale is starting from $38K to $83K (Pay Scale Human Capital). Even though the pay is not on the upper-class level, it is already on the middle-class level.
