Andrew Weil, M.D., daily doses up to 1,000 mcg of GTF Chromium are safe. He recommends avoiding the chromium picolinate in favor of the GTF Cromium or chromium chelate. Dr. Weil also recommends individuals with type 2 diabetes, or individuals who gain abdominal fat easily, take supplements of 1000 mcg of GTF chromium daily.

Make sure that your supplement does not contain additives, such as niacin unless chelated, and it should clearly state that the supplement has biological activity.

There have been no questions about the safety of GTF Chromium as there are regarding some of the others. As always, however, it is a good idea to check with your doctor before taking any supplements. The recommended amount one should take is 200-400 mcg for women and 400-600 mcg for men. This substance is not toxic until it reaches 2,000,000 mcg. That’s a lot of supplements one would have to take at one time to have any detrimental effects. Too much of anything is never a good thing.

Since insulin controls the absorption of the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and nutrients our bodies require, GTF Chromium is recommended as an anti-aging skin care supplement. We need our bodies to absorb nutrients and without proper functioning insulin levels, they are simply stored as body
