In modern time, we know the birth of Christ to be December 25. However, this is not accurate. The beginnings of Christmas are not of Christian origin, but Pagan. Baal is said to be their “sun god” and seen to be the only god or supreme deity. During this time of the winter solstice was the time in which they engaged in worship with sacrifices (Barlow 18). Constantine being originally Pagan and claiming to be a converted Christian, made a series of decrees, one of which is declaring December twenty-fifth as the day of Jesus Christ’s birth. It is historically accurate that no one knows when Jesus Christ was born; however, we know it cannot be during winter because shepherds would not be tending to their flock at night, especially during the height of the rainy season of Judea. The Feast of Tabernacles is one of the holy feasts proclaimed by God. It is likely that Christ was born during this season, which is from mid-september to october. “ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (New International Version John 1:1). We commonly see this day as Christ 's resurrection; however, it can be proven that it was not. A biblical day consists of twelve hours and twelve nights(New International Version, John 11:9); the biblical day begins from Sundown to the next sundown (New International Version, Leviticus 23:32).In the book of Luke 23:52-54, New International Version, Joseph laid Jesus in the tomb, as the sabbath was beginning, which is Saturday, but the days are from sundown to sundown; Jesus was laid to rest on Wednesday evening before the high sabbath(New International Version, Exodus 12:16). Jesus said that he will be in the tomb for three days and three nights exactly (New International Version, Matthew 12:40). This means that Christ was not resurrected until Saturday evening, not on Sunday or otherwise known as Easter Sunday. The Council of Nicaea created this on top of another Pagan goddess, Ishtar. She is the goddess of rebirth and fertility, worshipped during spring time. Easter is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible surrounding Christ’s death or resurrection.
