Discipleship is the devotion to the teachings of a teacher learner or a philosopher. In a Christian sense this is devoting ourselves to being more Christ like and learning his word, but is also the going out and disciplining to younger Christians and helping them on their walk. The idea of discipleship started with Jesus when he picked twelve men to be his disciples he taught them and had them help in his ministry and eventually set them a mandate to go out and make disciples of all nations and baptising people in in his name.

When I was 11 years old, all my family moved to the far east of Russia to work with orphans, I lived there for 10 years before returning to Australia to study. In my time there, I got to have the opportunity to share and disciple to a number of young people that came in to our ministry. One of the people who stands out the most to me was a young guy that lived with my family for a number of years, when we first me this guy he was an orphan and had just become a believer in a local church, while he lived with us we became very close and spent a lot of time talking about the bible and what It means to be a Christian, I was able to watch this guy grow and become firm in his faith, he also became an important part of the work we were doing in the …show more content…
It is a way of life and something that we have to devote ourselves to and do throughout our entire lives. Discipleship is also not just about being built into but also about building in to others. In his lecture Dean O’Keefe talks about the process of discipleship, about disciple styles and leadership and the process of delegation, one of the main ideas that stood out to me was the idea of delegation in how we teach and learn.
