YMCA is a charitable organization with a mandate to provide healthier lifestyle and opportunities equally to all of is beneficiaries. Although YMCA was founded in June 1844 in London by George Williams, the Canadian presence of YMCA came into being in 1851, making YMCA Canada a 165 years old organization. Today, YMCA has a footprint in 125 countries with over 57 million beneficiaries.
From the start YMCA grew very rapidly due to its core principles that were based upon Muscular Christianity. YMCAs engaged in charitable activities through providing athletic activities, holding programs and classes, assisting young men and women find affordable places to stay during the industrialized revolution. All of this fueled the growth of the local YMCAs

Membership:
Memberships is one of the primary ways of supporting the communities. They provide access to the amenities, such as gym and swimming pools, of the YMCA facilities and enrollment in the group fitness classes. Dance, martial arts, basketball and swimming lessons are available for the members’ children. Most locations are open 365 days of the year.

Rates are highly competitive and start from $199 for the complete program. A free assessment is conducted to determine the goals and a program is devised to achieve these goals. These 1-1 programs are a great way to boost the motivation with the instructors undivided attention. A free 2 weeks’ pass is available to those 16 and over.

Aquatics:
YMCA offers a wider array of swimming options such as Family, Lane, Recreation, Parent & Tot, Water, Run, AquaFit and Swim lessons. This is inclusive in the membership fees.

Group Fitness Classes:
A wide range of fitness classes are offered such as BodyFit, CardioFit, CycleFit, MuscleFit, Dance, Pilates and Yoga.

YMCA Fitness Certification Courses:
YMCA Fitness Certifications are a great way to provide the required knowledge and skills to train the lifeguards and fitness professions of tomorrow that would continue to support their communities and promote a healthy lifestyle. Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, Group Fitness and Personal Fitness Certifications, Aquatics Leadership and National LifeGuard are offered.
