Ezekiel 36-37 – These chapters were written by Ezekiel, a well-educated priest who was taken to Babylon to work as a slave for the royalty due to his superior talents and education. While in slavery, the priest becomes a prophet through spiritual experiences early in the book. The people have lost everything, which according to the Deuteronomic viewpoint was because of their sinful unfaithfulness to Yahweh.

• The message for chapter 36 is that God promises to restore Israel after their horrible living conditions. God goes to also say that he remembers their sins and evils, but also goes onto say he will pardon and provide sanctification. Chapter 37 shows Israel being restored physically and spiritually. Chapter 37 is when Ezekiel is said to walk the valley of dry bones. This is a representation of Israel. God is restoring Israel even though it is dead with life and bringing hope and promise. The bones represent the entire nation of Israel, even though God has cast judgement he also promises to restore Israel and provide them with their homeland. He was there to give encouragement to them so that the temple could be completed. The book of Haggai has four messages. The first is the call to rebuild the temple. The second was to Zerubbabel, Joshua and the people. The third was a conversation between God, Haggai, and the priests. The fourth was to Zerubbabel. The message that the prophet is saying is that regardless what they felt God had said that it was time to rebuild the temple. The message was to have hope and faith in God.
