Have you ever stopped caring so much that whatever happens, happens? I remember the time I had gotten in trouble by my mom because I had walked home from school. It was a gloomy day from it being so cloudy and cold. I was talked into walking home during school by friends whom, at the time didn't care about school as much as I did, cared nothing of school. I didn’t like it, but then again I started not to care either.…

The first mentions of the words ‘Taj Mahal’ caused images of pure white marble against clear blue skies to spring to my mind. After a quick Google search of the building, I anticipated expected my trip to act as an eye opener portraying the beauty of the Taj Mahal as representative of the true love of Shah Jahan towards his wife Mumtaz. When I arrived, I was sorely mistaken. I was surrounded by clouds accompanying a light drizzle of rain, hundreds of people packed together, and street children forcing Taj Mahal knickknacks in my face, trying to earn a few rupees. Reading Walker Percy…

How the Boy Scouts of America Have Affected My Life Throughout the years the Boy Scouts of America have helped young men into leaders and hard workers in their communities. Although I've been a scout for six years I haven't regretted joining. Through scouts I have learned a lot of different skills that I use almost daily, whether it writing a speech or being a leader in class and helping other classmates. Scouts has helped form me into the person I am today in the following ways: by helping develop me into a leader, by helping me choose my career, and by helping me to become a good teacher. Often recommended by adult leaders, described to be mature for my age and very responsible, I assumed leadership positions early on. From Den Chief, Quartermaster, Chaplain’s Aide, to Senior Patrol Leader, in charge of leading the entire troop of over 100 boys, I had the opportunity to influence younger scout to progress through the ranks and focus on the vision of becoming an Eagle Scout. As they achieved more for themselves, they, in turn, promulgate the Eagle Scout vision and helped others rise in the troop. The additional time I dedicated on numerous community service projects motivated younger scouts to also go beyond the call of…

There are approximately 397,000 children in foster care in the United States of America currently and I used to be one of them. However, foster had not even been near the forefront of my mind that summer. The summer before I started my first year of high school, I had plenty of anxiety about the tall tale I invented in my own mind that stood before me. Stories about how hard high school were numerous and often regaled on the crowded bus ride home by high schoolers who seemed to have the knowledge of every wise teacher in history combined. which that scared me to death; I had always held my position as a good student who followed the rules of my middle school.…

I was anxiously moving along to the beat of the song, jumping energetically from side to side.…
