As an adult student, it is not easy to manage the demands of work; spouse and children; and the need to set aside time to read, research, write, and complete specified assignments. The biggest complaint conveyed by adult students is that they simply don’t have enough time. The fact is time management is crucial so you don’t lose sight of your goals. Students’ time is a limited resource. Like other limited resources, time can be more or less effectively managed (Britton, 1991, p.405). It is hard to address my perspective of my own procrastination and my ability to learn. Another justification of why students succeed as adults is the need to further their knowledge of modern technology. Sometimes a degree received years ago may contain outdated information therefore setting you apart from today’s career seekers. In addition to updating your knowledge, adult student may progress from their current degree to a higher degree such as a Bachelors, Masters, or PH.D. According to U.S. Census Bureau statistics, people with a Bachelor’s degree earn over sixty percent more on average than those with only a high school diploma. Over a lifetime, the gap in earnings potential between a high school diploma and a B.A. (or higher) is more than one million dollars (Danzig and Mains, 2009). This will unquestionably make you more competitive for career progression or more marketable for job considerations. Even for those who have a college education may need to seek a degree in another field. Additionally, many non-working college graduates may stop working or return to school in response to frail job prospects. The benefits of a well-rounded education improve not only your quality of life, but also your family. Those with more education are generally qualified for jobs with better benefits, including health, life, and insurance. Getting a college education is one of the greatest ways to flee the sequence of poverty for both yourself and your children. As you mature,
