I like to run a business and not a kids’ play house and I would exhibit that mentality throughout the entire interview process. Starting off with the statement “tell me a little bit about yourself” is my go to ice breaker. I want to break the ice and set the tone for the interview. The elevator pitch that they give me within the first thirty seconds tells me a lot about the applicant. While interviewing the applicant, I want to know about their problem solving skills, ability to stay motivated, and experience and preference on working with others. Integrity questions will also be asked. I have to know if I am about to hire a good moral person or a bad apple (Mathis, Jackson, & Valentine, 2014). Proverbs 22:6 (King James Version) says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from

Unfortunately, there has been plenty poor decisions made on the managements part that has seriously affected staff members and the quality of work that has been put out. This kind of thing has resulted in employees having a variety of different projects and assignments simultaneously. Nick, is one employee that is scared to death because he was going to be evaluated and he knows that his quality of work was not up to par, but he still was…

We’ve all heard the old saying, good things come to those who wait, however it seems to be a lesson I just can’t learn, no matter how hard I try. Throughout the initial eighteen years of development, a child learns a number of vices and virtues; many of which they begin to associate with themselves throughout life. It’s questionable, however, whether a child learns consciously of the importance of each vice and virtue. For example, one does not necessarily remember being taught respect, yet one knows that it is a strong requirement to succeed in today’s society. Throughout the seventeen years of my life, I’ve been extremely fortunate to grow in an environment where virtues and vices have been highlighted with great importance.…

The person that I decided to interview is David Ellinger, who is my father, in addition to being a plumber for over 40 years and a plumbing business owner of over 29 years. Mr. Ellinger became the owner of his own plumbing company in 1986 and appropriately named his business, D.P. Ellinger Plumbing and Heating. I have always had dreams of owning my own business, which played a key point why I chose this to interview. Another key point on why I chose this individual to interview has to do with the fact that Mr. Ellinger’s business holds a great reputation that has continuously over the past decades, which he dedicates to the simple answer, work hard and stick to what you say you are going to do.…

For the informational interview I contacted a family friend Rebecca Gray Detling who is an executive sales manager with ICH Global LLC. I first just started off asking Rebecca on what she majored in college, how it prepared her for her job, what courses were the most valuable, and what class she wished she would have taken while in school. While in college Rebecca majored in physical therapy and had a minor in finance because she knew she wanted a future in the business field while helping out people in the medical field. Once out of college though she said that the most valuable class she took was a little of every class because with a career in the medical field, sales, and finance not one class is better than the other but a little of each class was extremely valuable.…

With the recent formation of our Client Success Team within our organization I believe that we can foster a positive and effective work environment by establishing a Communication Contract among the members of the team. According to Dresp-Langley (2009) communication between individuals is the most essential medium for translating ethical core values into action and that responsible communication between these individuals is an essential social need. By establishing this contract it will allow those on the team to know that they will be treated fairly, with respect, and to be confident that their voice will be heard. By incorporating specific clauses within the contract we will ensure that information will be provided effectively to the…

According to Marriam-Webster, the definition of worldview is “a way someone thinks about the world.” As everybody has a unique view on the world, their views of the universe can range from joyfulness or sadness depending on how he/she perceives the events in life. Some individuals think the events that unfold in life are beneficial to their overall success, while others believe that the events that are taking place lead to a dark place. Nonetheless, we have to face the reality and try to make the best of what unfolds, especially during the bad and good times. A person’s “philosophy of life” or worldview can be categorized into three distinct categories, which are personal, spiritual, and professional.…
