Those that don’t know the value of true loyalty can never appreciate the cost of betrayal. By definition loyalty is the state or quality of being loyal; faithfulness to commitments or obligations (Webster Online Dictionary). Is loyalty really an “obligation” though, or is it an internal noble and moral characteristic, that is shared with the people that we feel obligated to because of the relationship that is shared. Loyalty is a complicated concept, and a very broad term which can be perceived from many different angles. A loyal per¬son can be ready to sacrifice his/her own life for the sake of his/her friend, relative, significant other, and or country. Loyalty is everything. No one likes to be lied to or cheated on. A lack of loyalty can cause friction within significant others. “No marital contract spells out, or even defines loyalty. Yet, both partners assume that this commitment will be honored. Loyalty does not only mean physical fidelity it includes emotional devotion. Being loyal in every aspect of a couple’s life has many manifestations” (Offra Geistien). Loyalty in romantic situations can be expressed in a surplus of different ways, such as keeping your word, being respectful to your partner and making your partner a priority. When in a relationship your partner needs to know that he/she will continue to be loved, even if they lost some aspects that made may have contributed to someone What if they lost their job or hair? The rapper 50 Cent has lyrics that say, “If I feel off tomorrow would you still love me? If I didn 't smell so good would you still hug me? If I got locked up and sentenced to a quarter century. Could I count on you to be there to support me mentally” (21 Questions). Loyalty means that even if their circumstances do vary a great deal, they can count on their significant other to be there to support
