Career In Event Planning Essay

While some people may think of event management as a degree in party planning, it is gaining credibility as a legitimate career. The Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council created event management standards which also led to the definition of exactly what an event is (Robertson, 2015). An event is “a social form that organizes interaction in a distinctive way” or the “gathering of three or more people who agree to assemble for a purpose ostensibly related to the functioning of an organization or group” (Beaulie, 2004). According to Michael Auerbach, “in 2006 there were 51,000 event planners in the U.S. and 39% of those were within an event planning company” which demonstrates the grand size of the industry and its obvious importance to society (2015). The purpose of this paper is to explore a career in event planning. …show more content…
I’m very organized and love things being planned out and exact. My original major was theatre and while I love theatre I decided it wasn’t something I could do for the rest of my life and when I found the hospitality school I thought event management fit me perfectly. I don’t have much experience with event planning specifically however when it comes to planning bigger things, I directed three shows in my high school’s theatre program which involved a lot of organization and planning. I still need to get more experience as well as finish my schooling and join many different programs and publications to gain connections. I will begin volunteering at as many events as I can. Often times my job has opportunities for me to work events so hopefully I’ll get some experience there, as well. Finally because Sarah Russell, an event manager at the Walt Disney Company told me about this position and suggested that I try to get involved, I will attempt to get a job as a Park Events Operations Guide to give me more opportunities to network. Event planners have become a crucial part of many corporations operations which opens many opportunities for me in the

It is with great pleasure that I submit an application for the Marketing Growth Analyst position offered by Ampush. I learned about Ampush from personal research and became interested in your company’s unique approach to marketing strategy and campaigns. When I first learned of Ampush, I was immediately taken by your mission to cater an individual advertising experience for each one of your company partners rather than trying to find a one-size-fits-all strategy for every single project. Ampush’s focus on instead developing strategies that target the individual needs of each project resonates strongly with my experiences in the arts at Williams. With each theatrical production I worked on, I was encouraged to analyze and understand the show…

I didn’t know much about event preparation, testing, and just the general ideas. However, during the summer, I was told that non-staff could help with events. This gave me the idea of having a Needle in the Haystack 2.0 event. I have been working on that event since September, and I learned a lot during that time. I learned about flags, regions, command blocks, building tips, and a lot of information that can make future events I help with more successful.…

Describe your educational and career goals and explain what or who has inspired or helped shape these goals. During my high school years, I recall working in the fields during vacation breaks with my mother harvesting tomatoes, picking up cherries, and pruning grape vines. Fascinating as it sounds, I was always intrigued to understand why fruits and vegetables spoil or often cause food poising in humans. Although, when I questioned my mother why these fruits spoil, she responded it was due to "little bugs," which was not a sufficient response.…
