As Educators, one of our main priorities is distributing information to our students. One of the hardest parts of the job is figuring out an efficient way of giving out information. Each day teachers have to think about a plan for their lessons. Teachers have to think about when they have to lecture, when to give our classwork, determine if the students should work together or individually. Teachers also need to think about projects that their students need to do as well as create tests and quizzes. One essential part of a teachers job is creating a curriculum map. The teacher puts all the material he or she will be teaching. Along with all the material for each unit the teacher also puts up the assessments along with a PDF file that gives the viewer of the map the assessment. If the assessment is not up in a PDF file, the teacher writes in what the assessment will be and the instruction. For example, in unit two SS Lab: Geography skills, the assessment is a Geography written test. The teacher does not upload a copy to the map but writes in an overview of what the test will cover. The map gives an elaborate as well as intricate map that outlines the entire years worth of material. The teacher includes all the skills that the students will learn as well as display assessments that will be given to the students. The teacher also provides the information in chronological order which is essential for relaying history. Lastly the essential questions and big ideas give the information a purpose. Without having abstract questions, students will not be able retain the information given. If the students have to work towards answering an abstract question with the material presented during class, the students will retain the information better. This curriculum map is a tremendous resource for how first year educators should model their own maps. This should be used as an example on how all curriculum maps should
