Computers these days can be used for more than just writing up documents or watching cat videos on the internet. Gaming is something that has become more popular in the past couple of years and PC gaming is on the rise once again. Many people don’t realize that every computer comes with different parts that determine their power. Those different parts of PC’s include a hard disk drive, RAM, a video card, CPU, and many more. They come in all different kinds of shapes, sizes, and price tags. The question that arises is whether or not you should build your own PC, or just settle for a prebuilt. You will probably familiarize yourself with all of the computer parts while beginning the building process. If you’re worried about being able to afford a specific part that you want, settle for a cheaper one until you can purchase it. As Dan Graziano says in his article, building your own computer allows for complete customization and gives you the chance to upgrade your internal hardware whenever you want, and that’s something that you can’t do with most pre-built machines (Graziano, par. 9). This is one of biggest pros when building your own PC. People will always tell me that they don’t want to build a PC because it comes with no warranty. Yes, building a PC means you’ll have no warranty or way of getting your PC fixed by the manufacturer if anything happens to it, but it also means that you’ll be able to upgrade my machine whenever you want. That’s the thing about warranties: you can’t take apart your machine and replace parts of it or else the contract is voided (Graziano, par. 10).
