Blood donation is a safe process as sterile needles are used only once on a patient and is then discarded afterwards. Therefore people should not worry about getting AIDS. It is also a simple three-step process consisting of screening(where the donor is asked to complete and show his or her ID card, then the donor is asked some health story questions then temperature, blood pressure, pulse and hemoglobin are checked to ensure donor’s blood is safe to use.), donating (where the donor is asked to sit on a chair. His or her blood is cleaned with alcohol and a needle is inserted into a vein in his or her arm. The needle is removed after fifteen minutes when nearly a pint of blood of blood has been collected.) and refreshment (where the donor spends a few minutes enjoying refreshments to replace the fluids that he or she lost during donation.
