I sat in a chair and tapped my fingers on the table as I stared at the clock. Tick tock tick tock. I gave up staring at it and started to pace around the living room.
We’re never going to make it, I thought We’re going to be all the way in the back. Today was the day, the day I would finally see my favorite band (well at that time it was) The Wanted. “Ma, what if we the line is too long?”, I asked. “Julie will get here she is almost out of work”, my mother replied in spanish.
Earlier this month my cousin, Julie had heard that I wanted to go to a concert. Together we finally convinced my mother to let me go. Trying to convince her was the hardest thing I have ever done. I kept thinking, This is never going to work she will never let me go.

We arrived to her house and I sat in a chair and looked out the window. I saw a lot of high school kids walking home but I became disinterested and looked around the house instead. There were pictures of Julie and her parents framed on the walls. I waited for what felt like forever and I started getting anxious. The clock was ticking and I didn’t want to end up being all the way in the back. I was starting to get really upset when Julie walked out of the …show more content…
“Absolutely” I said. We once again got on the car and made our way to Club Nokia. We were on the freeway the traffic my god the traffic was horrible. This is it the world officially hates me I thought. Sensing my distress Julie said “Hey if you want you can use the aux cord.” So I decided to play songs by The Wanted and a band I had recently gotten into named Fall Out Boy (funnily enough they are now my favorite band but I think that 's a story for another time). I felt it was my duty to explain who was who in The Wanted and told her about the funny things they had done. By the time we got there I had talked so much that I almost lost my voice. I felt so sorry for poor Julie because I would just not stop

It was a cold summer night and I could see the sun setting over the lake as I was arranging the lawn chairs around the campfire. I tried to dodge the clouds of gnats as I was running back and forth getting all the cards, snacks, and music ready. Just as I finished I saw the thirty teenagers walking up the long path to the camp directors house ready to participate in an evening activity I planned for them. I watched the girls race to get seats on the lawn chairs and helped the others find seats so they didn’t have to sit on the wet grass. The girls were laughing and having fun…

A big issue for me was the fact that, even though Julie was abused by her father, there had to be a way to play the side of Julie that it’s hurt and not angry. My first instinct was to play fear. I thought that Julie kept this fear for her father over the years. When I found out that Julie more than scare was hurt finally could have an overall vision of what my main purpose was. She is there at the hospital because she needs to face her father before he passes away, she knows that this is her last chance to close that door and start a new page, even though she will not admit it Child abuse is a big deal no matter what it is wrong and there are no excuses for this, nevertheless a big deal for me was to find the way of showing that hurt adult that Julie is.…
