Observe at your practicum site during one designated time and write your responses to the following items:
1. Describe how the children’s behavior is managed in this classroom.
The teachers manage behavior by informing children of their behavior. When a child does misbehave, the teacher will inform them of their misbehavior. Such as when a child hits another child the teacher will let them know they should not hit another child.
2. Describe what appears to be the goal of guidance in the classroom.
The goal is to keep students from breaking the rules and keep them safe. Also, the goal is to make sure the children behave and treat one another right.
3.What observations led you to your answer …show more content…
Interaction Practice (15 Points)
1. Continue practicing “wants nothing” and “wants something” play. Describe a situation of each category. What did you and the child do and say? How do the two different types of play feel different to you? Is one easier or harder for you? What might you need doing to get more comfortable with one of these types of play?
Wants nothing play is something that I often do with Emma who is 11 months old. She used to have stranger anxiety whenever I came into the room but now she is finally warming up to me. At times she would crawl over to where I am and play with the toys. She is content with having me close by and observing her play with her toys or others.
During wants something play I allowed Addie to share her toys with me. She often likes showing me a variety of toys and say the name of each one. Addie sometimes repeats the names of the toys she gives me. For example, when I tell her I see you gave me a truck, she then says the word truck. This continues until she finally decides on what she wants to play with.
I am comfortable with wants something play because of how I experienced. When I was a substitute teacher, I saw teachers do more wants something time. That is what I am used to seeing and it was hard at first observe and not interfere with the children's play. Now I know that I can do wants nothing time because I am comfortable using my observation
