Babette's Feast Reflection

I thoroughly enjoyed watching ‘Babette’s feast.’ It was an intriguing film. The story line and the plot kept me invested and interested throughout the entire film. And as I reached the end, I couldn’t help but be amazed as to how they wrapped it all up. In this class we have enjoyed many films, films of different natures. This particular film, I must say, was my favorite.
In what ways does Babette, a foreigner and a Catholic, demonstrate the love of Christ to the parishioners of this Danish Protestant sect? In many way Babette showed herself to be a kind, loving, and helpful woman. When she first arrived, she was asking for work. However, the sisters had no money to pay her with, for they lived is a small, poor, Danish Protestant sect. She

When Babette had first started working for the sisters, she never once brought up her plentiful experience. Instead she humbly let the sisters teach her their ways. Babette, no doubt, would’ve been just fine without the instruction, or at least been able to make something of better taste. However, she respected the sisters wishes and made what they asked. Her humility throughout the film is truly awe inspiring and is so Christ like. It ties in quite well with the previous question. This is yet another way she demonstrated the love of Christ to this village and to these …show more content…
Her cooking skills were a God given gift. And truly she should use her gifts to glorify God. However, much like Filippa, you needn’t be famous to use your gifts. However, there was a point in time when Babette was a famous chef. Her skills had no comparison. Then she tragically was forced to leave Paris. Soon after she went to work for the two sisters. While she was working for them I believe she continued to use her gifts to glorify God. In both instances, as a famous chef, then as a humble servant, she used her gifts to glorify the Lord. As a servant she worked endlessly for the sisters so they could continue to serve the poor. Then, at the end of the movie, she decides to use all her money to throw a fabulous feast for the sisters and the men and women that followed their father. She used everything she owned to throw this meal, a meal that later united

When she dives into the story she is completely non-religious and doesn’t pay a lot of mind to the faithful practices of the family, but they eventually become unavoidable. It seems as though the whole family is oozing bible passages. Her first major experience with this is the Hopkins Jesus statue where people pray before they enter the hospital. She says it was “the closest I’ve ever come to praying.” She witnessed Deborah praying and noticed the positive effect it had on her.…

This film is definitely an extremely amazing historical film. "Anne of the Thousand Days" showcases the lies of a "leggy girl" to the downfall of the lioness Anne Boleyn. Without Geneviève Bujold, this film would fail at showing the witty and intelligent queen at the time in her life that was the most scandalous; Bujold portrays Boleyn as a witty and provocative girl as well as showing her as a hurt and power-hungry woman who's swift actions are no match for the lies and rumors of the English court in the 16th century. Richard Burton's performance as Henry VIII is amazing as well and shows that the famous monarch was a misogynistic dolt who only thought of women as the producers of his future heir. While the film's historical accuracy is…

Two perceptions, one meaning Cranach’s Wittenberg Altarpiece The majestic art piece “The Wittenberg Altarpiece” was painted by Lucas Cranach in 1547. This altarpiece is the focal point of the City Church in Wittenberg, on it we can appreciate the importance of how worship was sensed during those days. At the same time, the altarpiece also works as a religious type of publicity since we can identify a clear illustration of the effects of the Reformation on Northern European art. Martin Luther was a key factor during that time and is the reason why we see a portrait of Martin Luther in the altarpiece.…
