These sources provided me with a great basis of information that helped me gain specifics of Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. I tend to be slightly skeptical of information from websites (though I believe I used all very credible sources), so I also looked to the Heward textbook, which gave me a ton of positive, reliable information. As ADHD is also defined as a behavioral disorder, individuals with ADHD are ten times more likely to be a regular target of bullies. (“Specialty Areas: Bullying” [CEC], 2015) This is often children with ADHD are susceptible to poor social skills. Children with ADHD are often: (a) overactive, (b) overly talkative or talk impulsively, (c) have the tendency to act out aggressively, (d) lack listening comprehension skills on what peers are saying, and have a deficit of self-control, (e) leading them to have problems in controlling their emotions and behaviors. These social faults may result in the individual being bullied and targeted. (“How Learning and Attention Issues Can Cause Trouble With Making Friends” [Understood for Learning & Attention Issues], 2014) There are many conditions that individuals coexist with ADHD. Many of the individuals with these conditions also have ADHD. Some of the conditions are: (a) learning disabilities, (b) anxiety disorder, (c) depression, (d) bipolar disorder, (e) Tourette’s syndrome, (f) Tic disorders, and (g) sleep disorders.
