He brings home no money for his family, leading to malnourishment, unhappiness, and an overall gloomy life. This is similar to the level of poverty occurring today. With the poverty rate rising, people must think of an efficient and to prosperous way to cut it. A way to fix this would be to improve the economy for poor states as well as limiting the money given by the government only to the deserving poor. The article states a solution could be to fix it “simply on improving socioeconomic status for all, regardless of race.”(El Paso Times) This means that by a decrease in criminal actions, means an increase in the jobs offered to the unemployed. A majority of the arguments about this subject are associated with whether the government should support the poor or not. A large part of the civil aspects of America relates to charities who have the ultimate goal to eliminate any form of poverty from disease or disabilities. Due to all of this charitable giving, a question lingers asking whether a government should or should not be required to engage in helping people who have fallen into poverty. With people making small donations to the poor that make drastic changes in a family’s or a child’s life, imagine what all a government would be able to achieve. This does, however, strike a problem. Charity is voluntary, so if someone was to give a charity money voluntarily and morally, then it would be much different than a government requiring its people to pay more taxes involuntarily going to a charity.
