One thing I pride myself on is the way that I look at life. No matter the circumstance, I choose to believe that whatever happens is God’s plan and is happening for a greater reason. I can remember the first time my mom told me that everything happens for a reason, I was very young at the time, I know this because I was taking a bath with my two younger brothers when she got a call saying my great grandpa had passed away. My brothers and I were obviously very confused with the situation, we had a lot of questions, that is when she rubbed my head, told me not to worry, that everything happens for a reason and it would be okay. I could have chosen many different ways to deal with my problems. I could have gotten into trouble, turned to drugs, or even tried to blame them on others, but instead, I decided to look at the bright side. Every situation, no matter what it is, has a point of view that makes it understandable. For example, my brother’s sickness, I believe that this situation happened to strengthen my family’s bond and help us learn to depend on each other more. Their family might have had nothing and although it was one hundred percent wrong to steal, at least hopefully that family would be able to eat that night. My positive look on life has a lot to do with that one phrase, “Everything happens for a reason”. Even when some of my cousins had passed away as babies and I remember being sad but still using that phrase to help me cope. I would tell myself that had to happen so that something greater could come from it.
