Apollo 13 Successful and Failure
Apollo 13 is one of the most memorable missions in NASA. Apollo 13 how about crew members on the mission. The crew was ready to launch until they had a problem with the ship. They had to hold back the mission for a couple of seconds. The Apollo 13 mission had technical problems with the spaceship. This missions took place in April, 11 1970 (apollo 13).The crew was excited to launch. The crew member worked so hard for this mission. Their names are Jim Lovell, Fred Hares, and Jack Swigert. He join for lunch on April 11, 1970(Howel).He took the place of a member name Ken Mattingly. Ken was exposed to germs. He had no immunity in his body. The NASA doctors pull him from the Apollo 13 mission. Ken had the case of the measles. Then jam protest that he stays. NASA statement was that he was too sick to go on Apollo 13. Fred is 36 years old (Howel). He was a backup crewmember for Apollo 8 and 11.The whole crew hat test flights before they can go on the real flights. Lovell was junior commander in Apollo 13(Apollo 13). Jack Swigert was command module pilot (Apollo 13). Fred Harise was junior lunar module pilot (Apollo 13).Lovell wife had nightmares of her husband. She dreamed that her husband was locked in capsule into space. Jim Lovell did not regret the way Apollo 13 turn out to be. Despite almost landing on the moon and almost lost his life. “We were given the situation” (Chaikin).They were really exercising their skills. He explain that he entire crew came home safely. Fred Hasie had different feelings towards the mission. He was disappointed about the mission. Also it was big failure. Haise was not happy when they replace ken. “You had a team, you had worked together for a long period, and now at the last minute you’ve going to practically take the team apart”(Chaikin ). After the mission NASA made charges to oxygen system the change were that tanks were separate the elements. Then added backup battle for future spacecraft. NASA review the thermal switches. They change the system in a whole. NASA has improve over the missions. They made some fixes to the spacecraft for more future missions to
