As mentioned in the InTASK Model Core Teaching Standards each student learns in specific ways (Council of Chief State School Officers, [CCSSO] 2011). When a child is not retaining information or lost in lessons, chances are that the method used is not the correct one for that child. The teacher should use new methods to motivate the student, based on his or her individual needs. Some students may need individual teaching or tutoring, while others might learn better as a group. There are those who are visual learners, which means they need to see what they are learning. It is a professional decision for the teacher to seek adequate help. Upon evaluating the child professionally by a Special Education Specialist, the child’s parents or guardians should be notified and the school should provide special lessons for that child. Professional communication is of the essence in this cases. It is not easy telling a parent their child has special needs. Although people a more aware that a child with special needs is not “retarded” there is still that misconception if the parents are not addressed in a professional and clear mater. These opportunities should be taken advantage of in the early stages of a child’s development and in many cases resolved before the child reaches high school,
