Banksy Art Analysis

Banksy was known as king of graffiti, british artist, painter and as well as a filmmaker with a unknown identity (“The Story Behind Banksy”). The names Robin Gunningham and Robert Banks are often used unknowingly to give an identity to Banksy (“Banksy Biography”). The true identity still to this day is uncertain. Banksy began his career in the early 90’s with a graffiti crew in Bristol called DryBreadZ (“Banksy Biography”). Banksy’s work was considered vandalism by law and critics but, it is meaningful art that portrays a powerful but, straightforward message. Banksy 's art is based on politics, war, hypocrisy, greed, societies issues, and even includes humorous messages ("Banksy Biography")

The picture creates a memo that hope is essential and motivation to people to continue on with life (“Girl With A Balloon”). The article Girl With A Balloon believes that Banksy has a great mind for making his art fit his message just as this piece of art does. The theme of this picture shows a young girl with a dull and dark world because she is in black and white but, she is reaching for a very bright red heart shaped balloon (“Girl With A Balloon”). Another great powerful piece of art is an anti war image of two soldiers painting a peace sign (“Soldier Painting Peace”). This image shows two soldiers dressed in battle gear , looking around very worriedly because they are scared of being seen painting a peace sign on a wall; as one soldier crouched down and holding a machine gun and the other one holding a brushed dipped in red paint (“Soldier Painting Peace”). The article Soldier Painting Peace believes that the messages created in the image would be repression of free speech that happens when a nation is at war at times and two men armed with a deadly weapon are scared for their lives of being caught painting a sign of peace.
