Reality and imagination are really just a philosophical journey that we have minimal understanding in, searching for the meaning of our worldview. Wallace Stevens, a poet who employs …show more content…
Our imagination is what finds the patterns in our world that constructs the reality we place upon it. Stevens found the ties between imagination and reality as he undertook change in his life from different jobs to changes in his family life. I find myself in similar ideology as stevens because he takes these changes and through his imagination explores the different perspectives around him. In college it 's a very freeing environment one where making your own reality isn’t difficult but what is difficult is not dispelling others perceptions of their time spent on campus as useless. Stevens’ poem “Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird” displays this as well by exploring the different perspectives surrounding a blackbird from the spiritual connections of naturalism to mankind to the ideas of reality versus fantasy. In this poem Stevens explores these different perceptions creating a new reality with each one, showing the different aspects of society each create their own reality for that particular individual.
