This project was not as easy as I had originally thought it would be. I was interested in this project because I thought that it would be fun, easy, and a chance at learning more about a topic that I am thoroughly interested in. I was hoping that this project could show me, more in depth, what it is like to own a professional sports franchise. To find the answers to my questions I used the game Madden 16 and the Senior Vice President of the Columbus Blue Jackets front office to understand what goes into owning a sports franchise and to create a scenario where I am the owner of a sports franchise. I started off by researching the costs of owning a franchise at school.…

My revision process started with eliminating one of the claims I felt wasn’t as strong as the main claim.…

The American Dream is a concept that was always deeply embedded in the American psyche from the very beginnings of its earliest settlements. The concept emerged through the cognition of America as the “promised land”, the mythical symbol of a “new Eden”, a “Kingdom of Heaven on Earth”, where man was in complete control of his political, social, mercantile and religious destiny. Despite the internal tensions the Civil War brought forth, the rapid growth of industrialisation of the nineteenth century led to a consolidation of the American Dream into a national consciousness. “As society became more secular, material progress became at once the Dream’s expression and proof. ‘The business of America is business’, Calvin Coolidge said in 1925.…

The American Dream is often defined as the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity traditionally held to be available to every American; its is also defined as a life of personal happiness and material comfort as traditionally sought by the individual citizens of the U.S. (Dictionary.com) This so-called dream has been around since before the founding of the country; its main purpose in the beginning was to allow people to flee from European countries that supported religious freedom. Now the vision of the American dream has shifted not just once, but billions of times every individual has his or her own personal dream now and more often then not, no two dreams are the same. These values upheld the idea that anyone from any background could become someone; that they would be able to live freely and leave behind a legacy that would be carried on from generations to come.
