This article focused mainly the emergence of the first people in America: Who they are, where they came from and how they got to America. He discussed three main routes as to how they arrived in America, none of which were without criticisms. In trying to determine whom the first people in America are, Hadingham began with the Clovis points and their creators, the Clovis people, who lived about 12,500 to 13,500 years ago, and tried to trace their origin.

Lastly, geneticist Wallace and his team disagree with this theory with their findings on the mitochondria DNA of the living Native Americans. Their conclusion was that "there were at least four separate waves of prehistoric migration into the Americas, the earliest well over 20,000 years ago."

After the first theory was disproved, another theory was discussed, which indicated that the first Americans were Stone Age mariners (not Clovis people) that traveled from Europe around the great ice sheets in the North Atlantic. Although some believed that these people were the predecessors of the Clovis people, there were findings that did not defend this suggestion. Stanford, a believer in the Clovis theory, found no justification that these people had any relation to the Clovis people, especially when these Siberians used tiny razor-like blades in wooden shafts, as opposed to Clovis spearheads. Another discovery made by a prehistoric stone specialist, Bradley, suggests that the origin of the first Americans might date back to around 24,000 to 19,000 years ago, a culture called the Solutrean.
