Analysis: The Five Factor Model Of Personality

Improved Essays
One of the biggest models used to describe personality is The Five Factor Model or, as know, The Big Five. The following are The Big Five: extraversion-introversion, neuroticism, openness to experience, agreeableness-antagonism, and conscientiousness-undirectedness. Extraversion-introversion measures how much a person enjoys social interaction, activity level, and their need for stimulation. Extraversion deals with sociability. Extraverts tend to talk more, engage more in eye contact, have a higher activity level, which means they do everything quickly and expend more energy, and experience more positive emotion.
Introverts are more reserved, quiet, tend to prefer smaller groups of friends, as opposed to a large group, and are more inhibited.

It deals with emotional stability and a lot of negative emotions. People who are high in neuroticism tend to have difficulty at work, maintaining a relationship, have higher anxiety, ruminate (which means to think obsessively about the past), and worry (to think about the future). People who are low in neuroticism are calm, relaxed, and have better interpersonal relationships. I consider myself to be in the middle, as most people are. I do not have difficulty maintain relationships, nor do I ruminate, but I do tend to worry and am anxious about certain things. This, in turn, explains why I am a defensive pessimist. Defensive pessimists experience a lot of anxiety and tend to be high in neuroticism. I identify with defensive pessimism. I think about the worse things that can happen and prepare for it. For example, at school, I tend to be very anxious with tests. In order to cope with that anxiety, I prepare for the worse. I think about the worse that can happen, fail the test, and study a couple of days in advance. I study until I make sure I know the material at least at a ninety-percent …show more content…
Self-monitoring refers to someone’s adjust his or her behavior to social factors. High-self monitors look for cues in a situation to tell them how they should behave. Their main goal is to promote harmony in a group. They are the ones who will adjust their behavior to make sure everyone around them is comfortable. Low-self monitors use their own values and motives to guide their behavior. They are not easily influenced by their peers. They are concerned with expressing what they feel rather than to mold their behavior to make everyone around them feel comfortable.
As I previously stated, I am a low-self monitor. I am myself with whoever I am. I let my values and morals dictate how I act. For example, if I am with a group of friends and they start drinking, I would probably not partake in drinking because I am underage which goes against what I believe. I am genuine with myself and to others around

In this book, Rubin records her yearlong pursuit to figure out what phases one can take to raise happiness. Rubin 's journey is very personal, thoroughly researched, fun, easy-to-read yet full of challenges. I found it interesting to see Rubin 's process. It was also nice to see the whole process and Rubin shows and explains the amount of energy she put into this project by constantly documenting and trying to further her knowledge on different topics.…

This means that I could be an extrovert and an introvert, I feel like it is kind of true because sometimes I could be a little too quiet and sometimes I like to be sociable. I think I would look at the situation to decide if I want to be an extrovert or an introvert. For instance, when I need to be sociable in a meeting, I would not be afraid of talking to other people. I think it is good to be between an extrovert and an introvert because I can depend on the situation to decide which one I would like to go for.…

They do not have many associates and is very careful with who they associate with. Introverts believe that it does not take much to make Introverts happy. Introduction Self Care and affirmation is an area which is a large part of Gods plan for our lives it is not just spiritual but is a combination of both spiritual and physical disciplines such as reading the word, physical exercise and healthy eating just to name a few. Reading the Bible and other Christian literature helps Christians become their true selves through inner transformation (Shore 2013). A Christian without or devoid of the knowledge and understanding of just how God loves them is ill equipped to become their true selves and face life’s challenges with success. Without such knowledge and understanding it is not possible to be the encouragement and blessing that God has intended a Christian. Correct Self Care is not an act of narcissism but rather aids to affirm oneself and others and must be an intentional daily practice.…
