There is a problem in our country and it is underage drinking. In this essay I will be talking about teenage alcoholism, how it is dangerous, the risks, and how to detect if your child is drinking. There are many dangers to drinking at a young age and it is also illegal. Alcohol is considered a drug because it reduces a person’s ability to think. All states have underage drinking problems and drinking and driving it is a growing problem in the United States. Teenage Alcoholism is when people under the legal age drink alcohol. The issue with this is that young people drink and their bodies have not fully developed and the alcohol damages the future growth. The reason is that if one child has seen his or her parent drinking, then they think it’s okay then they get their friends involved. It isn’t always that the children found it, but sometimes the parents allow their children to drink underage. This happens all over the world, there is no way to stop it as long as there is alcohol, there will always be teens finding alcohol and continue drinking in large amounts. There are dangerous effects of drinking and warning signs of underage drinking. One is academic problems such as if your child was an A and B student and all of a sudden they are starting to fail classes. Behavioral problems are another such as them getting into fights and arguing with family, friends, and school officials. Less interest in activates and attendance at school, sports, or their job. Serious injuries occur in these situations in 2008 more than 190,000 people under the age of twenty one were in an emergency room for alcohol related accidents. Drinking under the age of twenty one is important because that is the age that your body is fully developed. Alcohol is a depressant that is why most people drink it when they‘ve had a bad day. Alcohol is considered a legal drug like marijuana because it slows your senses and slows your ability to think. This is why you could be involved in violent acts, attempts of suicide, engage in unprotected sex, and develop alcohol problems later in life
