The present healthcare system is evolving along with the rest of world under continuous force from technological innovations. The emerging technologies are significantly modifying every division of the healthcare system and precisely carving the new era of the nursing practice. The purpose of this paper is to elucidate the arising transformation of nursing within healthcare system through the adoption of technology.
Work Environment and Managing Knowledge The work environment I selected is the clinical setting. Nurses manage knowledge in this work environment by leading the process of patients’ care, applying clinical judgment, and providing consistent evidence for research. Nurses are playing a critical role in patients’ care by enhancing a safe environment, delivering high-quality care, and ensuring the achievements of desired patients’ outcomes. With the implementation of information technology in nursing, the quality of nursing care is enhancing, and all parties (providers, patients, nurse) are benefiting. The computer-based information system has undoubtedly improved the flow of critical information, and indeed, it eliminates redundant data entry and interventions, enhances the quality of documentation, and permits tracking of patients’ information and their outcomes. “The electronic health record (EHR) provides clinicians with a more comprehensive view of the patients that can be accessed from many points within the hospital, or remotely” (Hebda, T., 2013).
