In 1953, legislation created the Small Business Administration (SBA) to further business activities across the United States (U. S. Small Business Administration, n.d.). Specifically, the agency’s purpose was to aid those individuals in the start-up, management, and financing of their small business dreams, as well as provide opportunities to conduct business with the federal government (U. S. Small Business Administration, n.d.). Today, the 28 million modest companies provide more than 50 percent of sales in America (U. S. Small Business Administration, n.d.). To understand a firm’s efficiencies and progress, it is important to examine how its operational capacities intersect with its economic activities to provide services to stakeholders …show more content…
The theory surrounding the reliance on sources posits that organizations conduct this type of examination to not only lessen reliance, but also to apply adequate pressure to obtain needed supplies or services (Jones, 2007). For example, the SBA partners with an organization called the SCORE Association (SCORE) to perform counseling services to potential small business owners (U. S. Small Business Administration, n.d.). Because SCORE is a volunteer centered organization, the SBA must place reliance on other partners to meet the needs of potential small business owners where gaps occur (U. S. I believe that the agency uses its authority in its dealings with partners on a cost-efficient basis, and leverages its reliance on sources appropriately; and furthermore, it is using mechanisms appropriately. Because the agency receives limited funds each year through the budget, it must use these funds wisely and leverage its sources appropriately, identifying the more formal source from informal. I believe that the only weakness in the environment is the technological challenges the SBA faces as recent cyber attacks evidence. I would recommend that the agency approach more partners to volunteer sources so monies could assist in resolving the technological
